Our editorial policy
Useful explanations, accurate meanings and a clear reason for every page.
What earns an entry
A definition alone is a starting point. We look for a reader question we can answer: which meaning fits, why the name is used, how to write it clearly, or what distinguishes similar terms.
Facts and history
We keep evidence records for factual claims and prefer official organizations and original documents. Naming dates are distinguished from formation dates. A documented early use is not proof of the first-ever use.
When an origin cannot be established, we say so or leave that section out. Official websites and entity records are included where they help identify the meaning.
Our examples and tools
We write illustrative examples to solve actual writing problems. They are not quotations or reports of events. Browser tools use explicit rules and explain their limits.
Team review
Research, drafting and development may use AI assistance. Our review process covers factual claims, examples, context and tools. Technical validation supports this process; it does not establish factual accuracy on its own.
This first edition contains a NASA pilot and a small selected index. We continue reviewing and expanding the entries.
Corrections
Send the entry, the wording you want to change, your proposed revision and a supporting link where useful. Suggestions are evaluated by the team; they do not publish automatically.
